The Wedding Gift experiment, 2024
part of Driftlab residency, collaboration with Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research, led by Lital Megidish.
A journey of a sculpture into the depths of the ocean. 3.5 km underwater equals 35,270,700 Pa. As pressure mounts, it squeezes the air out of the Styrofoam and deforms the wedded couple, causing them to shrink in size.

Now that I met you the question is how to collaborate, how to become one?
Strapped to the "rose," the marine measuring device, they dive for an hour below. The results loop on the submerged TV screen. A shattered glass bubble exerts pressure on the screen. The sound is taken from the real wedding and transforms the workers and the statue into a surrealistic pagan ceremony.

"Your words are like a silver coin between my teeth. You are a coin crossing the line, revealed on the other side as a coin once more. You are a spinning, spherical coin, pierced by the page into flat sheets, only to form again into all times at once. Your lungs expand and contract under the atmospheric pressure. The bubbles seem to descend, intoxicated by the depths. Together, we plunge into the abyss, searching for the flutist. We moved beneath the apple tree and prayed for the blinding light. Forever."

"He opens it outward, and the outside turns inward like a door.
There is no door in that room. The door is not open.
What’s outside in that room is still. and you are still a small person in that room,
and you are still the small person from whom the light turns back.
It’s the same light, and you are still all the times it turns on from within.
It’s as if the room is still the room, but everything rewinds.
The light turns on from within, and you are a small person in that moment,
but now, you are the room."
